Cats Eye Shells
These beautiful Cats Eye Shells are a natural curio found from the operculum or foot-closure of a sea-snail called a Turban Shell. They are most commonly used in European, Middle Eastern, and American folk magick for protection against the evil eye, misfortune, and hexes.
Within the Victorian era, these beautiful shells were set into jewellery as a way to protect and keep away spirits and negative magicks. While in American folk practice, it is most common to see the shells placed in Gris Gris bags or added to other protection charms.
Another name for these beautiful curios is "Shiva eyes." To many, the spiral of the shell symbolizes creation, destruction, spiritual knowledge, and transformation. Its spiral pattern illustrates eternity, understanding, and the interconnectedness of all things. Placed on the Third Eye, this shell is purported to help us connect with the universal mind, the Divine, and our highest selves. Representing wisdom, it helps us to look beyond the obvious to see and understand more deeply what we encounter.
