Happy Flora & Fauna Friday!

Lunaria, Moonwort, Honesty, silver dollar, money plant, penny flower, money in both pockets, moneywort, popes money and coins of Judas, are just a few of the names given to this Sacred flower. Know for its beautiful purple flowers and silver luna seed pods.

The Lunaria is heavily associated with the moon, due to the moon resemblance of its seedpods. This connection and symbolism makes the Lunaria an important and sacred plant for witches as it's the perfect ingredient for rituals involving the Luna body and as offering to the deities of the Moon.

Lunaria also appears as a ingredient in one of the the oldest recorded Flying Ointment to date.

It is said to bring luck and protection if picked on the lunar day of Monday. The Lunaria is heavily associated with money due to its appearance of looking like silver coins. The plant heavily used in spells for prosperity and money. By placing one lunaria in the socket of a candlestick and lighting a green candle, it is believed to draw in Money and Prosperity. Carrying a Lunaria seed in your purse or your pocket is also a way of drawing in that Prosperity.

One ancient story says that the herb is considered to be a protective herb, used to keep away monsters and the darkness of the night. Hang lunaria by your doors and windows or burn in the hearth the home to place a protective ward over the house. You can also carry the Scared coins for protection of the Body.

Its also thought that when ingested it acts as an antidote to madness and plagues of the mind.

Lunaria is a sacred and powerful herb, an embodiment of the moon herself...
